When I joined LJ almost exactly six (!) years ago, it was so that I could post at the January 2007 event at
rt_challenge. And every December after that, there was an event going on at
metamorfic_moon. So this is the first holiday season I've faced without a Remus/Tonks event -- and I'm going through a certain amount of withdrawal, lol.
And so, I thought this just might be a chance for a little R/T drabble (or drawble) meme. There are no rules, because I'm just making this up right now, but here's how I thought it could work:
Blame
katyscarlett76 for this, because she was encouraging me to do it. ;) (And yes, I'm still working on Kaleidoscope Ch 3, and totally planning to post by the end of the year!)

And so, I thought this just might be a chance for a little R/T drabble (or drawble) meme. There are no rules, because I'm just making this up right now, but here's how I thought it could work:
- Post an R/T drabble or drawble. No word limits, no restrictions. Post it here as a comment, or post it on your own journal (in which case, if you like, you can put a link in a comment here).
- Your drabble/drawble could be holiday-themed. Or not. Whatever inspiration strikes.
- If you would like prompts, comment here -- ask for a holiday prompt or a general prompt, and tell me if you want more than one a la Jumble. Or prompt yourself by picking a random track on your iPod. Or open a book to a random page and take the first noun, verb, or adjective on that page. Or ask a friend for the name of their favorite Christmas carol.
- We'll have a little more R/T love (or angst, lol) in the world!
Blame

Date: 2012-12-22 06:33 am (UTC)In the spirit of Meta, I thought I would use Christmas carols and objects for prompts. So, how about:
- Silent Night
- Christmas crackers
(But using the prompts is optional!)no subject
Date: 2012-12-22 06:46 am (UTC)Do people read the poem "Twas the night before Christmas" out loud to their children, or is that hopelessly American? Alternatively, is there another beloved Father Christmas story that Remus's mother might have read to him around, oh, 1963 or 1964?

Date: 2012-12-23 06:00 pm (UTC)I did actually start an R/T drabble/short fic at the beginning of December (don't ask), but another prompt wouldn't go amiss to kick-start it again. A holiday one, please.
Will there be the compulsory Meta deadline extension? ;)

Will there be the compulsory Meta deadline extension? ;)
I didn't even think about a deadline! I suppose I should set one so we can extend it, lol. I guess it would be a fun start to the new year if I could post a masterlist on Jan 1? That would suggest a deadline of, let's say, noon my time (so 5pm GMT?) Jan 1. Unless we have an extension. ;)

Since I'm very new at this - is there a deadline to this?

Date: 2012-12-24 05:14 am (UTC)I think it would be wonderful if you wrote something, even something short. :)
Since I'm very new at this - is there a deadline to this?
I didn't even think about that! But I suppose we'd better have one, if I'm going to make a new post with information about everyone's drabbles and drawbles. Let's say by 5pm GMT (that might be 6pm or 7pm your time?) on Jan 1. But if that date gets close and people want more time, we can have an extension...
Happy writing!

Date: 2013-01-04 01:28 pm (UTC)so here it is, my first attemt at an English drabble.
Though I'm not sure it really is a drabble - briefness in writing is not my forte, and that tendency is even more obvious when I write in English:)
(And hopefully the English isn't too horrible...)
I'm actually a bit nervous about posting this, but here it goes:)
Tis the Season
Christmas or no Christmas, Remus knew a lost cause when he saw one. The best he could hope for, was for the whole thing not to become too awkward...

Date: 2013-01-04 09:34 pm (UTC)I will read your drabble tonight when I'm home. Congratulations on breaking the ice and writing a drabble in English! And as far as I'm concerned, long is good. :) I just said "drabble" so we wouldn't have too much pressure on ourselves.

Date: 2013-01-04 09:20 pm (UTC)Title: Seeing Beyond
Prompt: R/T in answer to shimotsuki's irresistible invite! I completely didn't wind up using the requested optional prompt (O Tannenbaum), though. In fact, I couldn't do anything Christmassy. I had this same problem last time, I'm afraid. It's hard to write Christmas…
Fandom: Harry Potter
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Lupin/Tonks. And the war. Order work is kind of the great third wheel here.
Rating & Warnings: The whole thing is naked and in bed. If we imagine the sheets working out the right way, Hollywood basically considers this, what, PG-13?
Word Count: 1159. I'm sorry. I'm lousy at drabbles.
Summary: OotP. They have a catch-as-catch can moment. Tonks is still very… innocent, I think, and Remus certainly reclaims a moment for his own.

Late for the deadline. Gah!
Date: 2013-01-07 09:59 pm (UTC)Remus made his way slowly back downstairs, aware that his head was beginning to ache and not wanting Molly to be confronted in the morning with the remains of the party, or to take it out on Sirius if she was. A cup of tea and some clearing up ought to sort the head out, and quench this odd restlessness that he was conscious of recently. He’d felt almost guilty when Molly was crying, aware only too well what the future might bring but also conscious that in many ways he was happier than he’d been since teaching at Hogwarts. Probably down to having a purpose again. And yet he kept remembering Arthur’s face when the older man had seen Molly and her white, tear-stained face. There’d been fierce protectiveness in his expression; fierceness then on both sides as he’d pushed quite roughly through the little group of people to get to her and she’d reached out her hand for him. It had left Remus feeling bereft of something he couldn’t quite define.
He sighed. He really needed that strong cup of tea.
As he neared the kitchen, there was the unmistakable sound of china colliding at force with a sink, an unladylike curse, and several golden bubbles slipped through the half-open door and sailed rather triumphantly past his head. Of course. The load he carried lightened immediately. The long red hair she’d worn tonight in honour of the Weasleys had been replaced by the familiar short pink, she was wearing Molly’s apron which appeared to have been knotted round her at least twice with room to spare, and she turned her head as he pushed the door fully open and smiled at him without any apparent surprise. Only pleasure.
“Oh good, you’re just in time to dry,” said Nymphadora Tonks.
Re: Late for the deadline. Gah!
Date: 2013-01-07 10:05 pm (UTC)Anyway -- since this whole "event" (so to speak) was really for a few of us to amuse ourselves with, I'm just as happy to wait for you and Katy to write whatever you want to write and call whenever they come in the "deadline". So, please just have as much fun with this as you want, and no pressure!

Once I got started, there were suddenly more stories that wanted out.
And I had a lot of fun trying out a 100-words drabble, which I haven't done before.
