When I posted my list of holiday fics a week or so ago, I forgot one! It's not the cheeriest of stories, but it is set on Christmas Eve.

This is a story that I originally posted at PhoenixSong in December 2006, and then revised for DH compliance and posted at The Sugar Quill in August 2007. (Thanks to betas Musings (PS) and Arya (SQ).) I even linked it at Red and the Wolf once, but I recently realized that I'd never actually archived it on LJ. So I'm sticking it here now, just in case.

Playing Hippogriff (1364 words | G)
On Christmas Eve of 1981, someone unexpected turns up at a play park in Little Whinging. Does Harry remember who used to "play hippogriff" with him at Godric's Hollow? And what will Petunia do about this intrusion into her well-ordered life?

I'm not sure what deep meaning this might have, but Sirius keeps turning up in my SQ drabbles. Here are the newest ones:

• prompt = run -- Vernon's unexpected news makes Petunia remember Sirius. (PoA>GoF)
  
  
• prompt = gold -- Sirius may be a desperate fugitive, but at least he's a desperate fugitive with a large bank account. (POA)

When I first started writing fanfiction, I used to participate in the "Official Drabble Thread" at The Sugar Quill, which had weekly prompts for "drabbles" (triple-drabbles?) of up to 300 words. It was fun to interact with the other drabble writers and get feedback, and I used these to try out some ideas that later made it into some of my longer fics.

Unfortunately, the Quill has downsized now that the Harry Potter series is over, and the ODT archives are no longer available. I'm planning to excavate my drabbles from somewhere deep inside my hard drive and post them here eventually. In the meantime, this is a placeholder post to remind me to do that.

And I've recently learned that some of the Drabblers have found a new home on LiveJournal, at sq_drabblers.
