...actually, today has been rather warm and cosy, because we got together with friends we hadn't seen for a while and had a fun dinner out. So "bleak" wasn't really fair. ;)

I've been very much AWOL on all my social-media accounts for the last couple of years -- not that I have that many to start with, but anyway. I ported my LiveJournal content over here months ago, after having sort of faded out on LJ too, and vowed to use that as an excuse to get more active here. But this is the first post I've even made. Heh.

The next couple of months are looking extra-busy at work, so I may fall off the face of the earth again, but at least now I've broken the ice at Dreamwidth. Maybe I'll be able to keep up a little better this time. (And, for those Remus/Tonks fanfic and fanart people out there, there may even be an announcement of interest coming soon.)

It's Spring Break this week! I'll be back later with an Accountability Post (haven't done one of those for a while, which may explain a lot, lol) -- and to catch up with posts on my f-list. For now, my guy and I are about to go on a geology hike with friends, enjoying the warm sunny weather after a few chilly days of rain and sleet.

But first, a crucial question for [livejournal.com profile] philomytha: Last night[*] I got hold of a copy of Whispers Underground, which appears to be #3 in the Rivers of London series. I have #1 on order from interlibrary loan, but it isn't here yet. So my question is, can I start with #3 and read out of sequence, or will I regret it? ;)

For everyone who hasn't been following [livejournal.com profile] philomytha's remarks about this series, it's apparently a gritty London-based mystery series. With secret wizards on the police force. Sounds like it pushes most of my buttons.

[*]I also found a copy of Sharing Knife: Legacy in the same used bookstore. It was a good book-scrounging night!

It's better than a meme -- it's a challenge. From [livejournal.com profile] jdbracknell:

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

I hope this will:
  • get me posting more regularly
  • be a chance to gain experience writing creative non-fiction
  • get more conversations and thoughts going all around the f-list
...All good stuff.

My 100 Things will be 100 Adventures. And what's an 'adventure'? That remains to be seen -- but cooking adventures and brief tales of adventures past are not out of the question.

Anybody else out there got 100 Things? I'd love to read about yours. :)

I've been meaning to post this for ages now, and I'm sorry for the delay, but thank you to my anonymous jelly-bean gift-giver!

It's the Memorial Day long weekend -- we're having a friend visit, and planning some hiking and swimming and such. Hope everyone with Monday off enjoys it. (I think I recall that the last Monday in May is a Bank Holiday in England? You Canadians had Victoria Day already, though...too bad. ;P )
