When I joined LJ almost exactly six (!) years ago, it was so that I could post at the January 2007 event at [livejournal.com profile] rt_challenge. And every December after that, there was an event going on at [livejournal.com profile] metamorfic_moon. So this is the first holiday season I've faced without a Remus/Tonks event -- and I'm going through a certain amount of withdrawal, lol.

And so, I thought this just might be a chance for a little R/T drabble (or drawble) meme. There are no rules, because I'm just making this up right now, but here's how I thought it could work:
  • Post an R/T drabble or drawble. No word limits, no restrictions. Post it here as a comment, or post it on your own journal (in which case, if you like, you can put a link in a comment here).
  • Your drabble/drawble could be holiday-themed. Or not. Whatever inspiration strikes.
  • If you would like prompts, comment here -- ask for a holiday prompt or a general prompt, and tell me if you want more than one a la Jumble. Or prompt yourself by picking a random track on your iPod. Or open a book to a random page and take the first noun, verb, or adjective on that page. Or ask a friend for the name of their favorite Christmas carol.
  • We'll have a little more R/T love (or angst, lol) in the world!
Feel free to repost this on your own journal, or heck, change it to fit the fandom or ship of your choice.

Blame [livejournal.com profile] katyscarlett76 for this, because she was encouraging me to do it. ;) (And yes, I'm still working on Kaleidoscope Ch 3, and totally planning to post by the end of the year!)

Brevity not being my strong point, I don't think I've ever successfully drabbled in my life. But I'll give it a go. Christmas prompt or two, please. Feel free to make them quite detailed if you like. (IE DO ALL MY THINKING FOR ME AHEM). I think my muse is somewhere in the Bahamas, sipping a holiday martini, right now. :)

Ooh, glad you're in. Note that there's no wordcount limit to this "drabble," lol.

In the spirit of Meta, I thought I would use Christmas carols and objects for prompts. So, how about:
  • Silent Night
  • Christmas crackers
(But using the prompts is optional!)

I have a Britpick question...

Do people read the poem "Twas the night before Christmas" out loud to their children, or is that hopelessly American? Alternatively, is there another beloved Father Christmas story that Remus's mother might have read to him around, oh, 1963 or 1964?

Yes! I like this idea :) I've been missing the R/T on livejournal lately... I'm usually just a lurker, but I think I'll contribute this time with a drawble :) woohoo!

I think I love you. (Do note that this will probably be a fickle love, and I'm like to be cursing your name once I actually sit down to write.) Prompt, please! (Coz I'm lazy and you're doing it Metamorphic-style, bless you.)

Sounds really wonderful! Will you prompt me (general)? Though I reserve the right to waffle back to my own prompt -- as well as employ all other options and excuses listed above. ;)

I'm off to obsess over knitting a striped scarf I ran out of one color of yarn for... D'oh!

We certainly know it and I'm sure it was read to me by mum or nana at some point so I don't think it would be too unlikely for it to have been read to Remus!

Oh my fault is it now? Well I'll certainly take responsibility for more R/T love in the world ;)

I'd like a prompt please!

This is a fab idea, can't wait to see the results!

That was the right answer, lol, because it means I can use the plotbunny that hopped by last night. Thanks! :)

Oh, fantastic! I was hoping this might draw in some new people! I'll be looking forward to the drawble. :)

Yay! Curse away if necessary, lol -- but these can be short and simple, too.

I'm using Pandora to get me random carol prompts, so here's yours: O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree)

Yay! I'm using Pandora to get random prompts, and yours (from a non-holiday 'channel') is road.

Oh, no! ...Can you give the scarf a different color scheme at the edges?

Yay!

You didn't specify holiday or non-, so I'll give you a holiday one, but it doesn't have to be a holiday story. ;)

comfort and joy

Give me a Christmas prompt that I may or may not use. ;)

BUT OH MY MERLIN, I LOVE YOU FOR THIS.

btw, can you post all the links, to the stories, so we all can read them?

I decided to go asymmetrical, which is actually going to make it come out cooler than the original plan--I think...

I'm hoping people will post their links here in the comments! But yes, if they don't, I will make sure there are links to everything somewhere.

Your random carol prompt (courtesy of Pandora) is:

when half-spent was the night

Yay! Though not the artistic or creative type (sigh) As you know I am the fangirl type and am anxiously awaiting my squeeing to begin! Best Christmas present ever!

YAY! ♥ (I was also feeling the Meta seasonal withdrawal, so good on you and [livejournal.com profile] katyscarlett76.)

I did actually start an R/T drabble/short fic at the beginning of December (don't ask), but another prompt wouldn't go amiss to kick-start it again. A holiday one, please.

Will there be the compulsory Meta deadline extension? ;)

How lucky am I - just a few days ago I wrote about feeling almost like the only R/T-fan left in this world (well, thankfully I know that you are still writing about them :-)) - and now this! Yippiii!

I'm actually contemplating throwing aside my scared-to-write-fiction-in-English-thoughts (or any fiction at all with this talended group...), but we'll see what inspiration and courage can come up with.

Since I'm very new at this - is there a deadline to this?

I'm just happy there are so many people interested in doing this! :D

(You realize your icon is unnecessary, right? Remus and Tonks are feeling just fine and enjoying having Teddy home from Hogwarts for Christmas at the moment. ;P )

Yay! Pandora inspires the following random carol prompt for you:

the weather outside is frightful

Use or ignore at will. ;)

Will there be the compulsory Meta deadline extension? ;)

I didn't even think about a deadline! I suppose I should set one so we can extend it, lol. I guess it would be a fun start to the new year if I could post a masterlist on Jan 1? That would suggest a deadline of, let's say, noon my time (so 5pm GMT?) Jan 1. Unless we have an extension. ;)

Isn't this fun? I'm happy that so many people have responded!

I think it would be wonderful if you wrote something, even something short. :)

Since I'm very new at this - is there a deadline to this?

I didn't even think about that! But I suppose we'd better have one, if I'm going to make a new post with information about everyone's drabbles and drawbles. Let's say by 5pm GMT (that might be 6pm or 7pm your time?) on Jan 1. But if that date gets close and people want more time, we can have an extension...

Happy writing!
