mrstater has suggested that it would be fun if people posted links to the fics they've written that have a winter holiday theme. I've only got a few, and they're all Potter (largely because most of the other fandoms I write for have completely different gods!), but here goes:

For the writing community at

pulped_fictions, I've been playing with a character and a story idea. No guarantees that I'll ever try to build this up into a real novel, but I like the practice with working out the background and personality of a specific character. So here's an index post for me to keep track of all these little stories featuring Allison.

It was interesting doing this post, because there turned out to be more things on the list than I was expecting. Most of them are pretty short, though; the official count is eleven stories or chapters (1000+ words), eight ficlets (500-999 words), and six drabbles (100-499 words).

It's actually hard to believe that all my Chalion attempts are from 2009. It feels like I've known that world for longer than only one year. I also have to note that two of my new fandoms (Chalion and The Thief) were introduced to me by

gilpin25. So much of this is her fault. ;)

2010 resolutions? This will be the year I finish "All Will Be In Order," and it's always a goal to be working on "Kaleidoscope"; maybe I can finish the OotP part? I'd also like to write more Chalion or Vorkosigan, especially if there's a ficathon again this summer. And more original fiction, even if only a little.

Warp and Weft

After Voldemort's defeat, Remus and Tonks can finally start piecing the strands of their lives back together. (A loose collection of AU stories that continue from Kaleidoscope.)

This series is "minimally AU": Yes, Remus and Tonks survive the Battle of Hogwarts. But technically, to the best of my knowledge, this ficverse is consistent with everything that is explicitly written in book-canon. (Including the Epilogue, if we grant that Harry may have been exaggerating slightly about the frequency of Teddy's visits...)

1998

Clearing the Table (2914 words | PG) — Andromeda had always hoped that Nymphadora would bring someone special home for dinner someday, but when that day comes, her daughter’s choice of guest is quite a shock.
- This story is based on two ficlets posted at rt_challenge in January 2007, Absolutely, Positively, Completely Sure and Clearing the Table, but they have been revised for compliance with the DH timeline and slightly expanded.

Asking for Forever (5020 words | PG-13/mild profanity, cuddling) — A mere ~~fortnight~~ month after the relationship finally begins is hardly the best time to ask a certain question. But what if it's now or never? [At metamorfic_moon.]
- Canon timeline error: This story should be taking place one month after Dumbledore's death, not two weeks; please make the necessary mental edits when reading.
Promises (3770 words | PG) — Arthur is a witness: to Tonks being determined to outwit Dolores Umbridge just this once, and to Remus being torn between worry, guilt, and sheer joy. Oh, and to a wedding.
Crossing the Threshold (3581 words | PG-13/mild profanity, intimate situations) — A proposal in the morning, a marriage in the afternoon; everything has happened so fast that Remus doesn't quite know what to expect on his wedding night.
Need (1079 words | PG-13/profanity, implied intimacy) — In the aftermath of a narrow escape, love surfaces as anger, relief becomes need, and desperation leads to carelessness...with far-reaching consequences. [At rt_challenge.]

Breaking Point (2821 words | PG-13/torture, mild profanity) — In the dark hours after the attack on Bill and Fleur's wedding, Andromeda begins to think a little better of her own new son-in-law. But even an Order veteran who can stand up to a Death Eater's Cruciatus Curse has his limits.
All That I Am (6422 words | PG-13/mild profanity, intimate situations) — Remus makes the choice to go home again, but now he must convince Tonks that he is home for good. What can he possibly say this time, if even wedding vows were not enough? [At rt_challenge.]
Moving Forward (2847 words | PG-13) — Remus has come home, but Tonks needs to work out how they can fit themselves together again. [Note: Major revisions are planned for this one, to make it more of a plotty adventure, and to put off some of the emotional confrontation until the following chapter. So at the moment, this installment and the next are a little redundant, character-development-wise, but that will change.]
Any Road Runs Two Ways (4610 words | PG-13/intimate situations, mild profanity) — Remus would do anything to keep the full moon from being a burden on Tonks. But there is such a thing as going too far.

All Will Be In Order (PG/mild profanity, firewhisky | gen | GoF>OotP)

When Remus Lupin moves in at number twelve, Grimmauld Place, he must come to terms with Sirius Black and a friendship too long submerged by mistrust, loss, and Azkaban. He must learn to work with Molly Weasley, who seems to be nearly as frightened of werewolves as she is of Voldemort. Clearly, adjustments will have to be made.
