That Remus/Tonks drabble meme...

I've been trying to use the summer R/T drabble/drawble meme to force me to finish a new Kaleidoscope chapter. And I am so close, but not quite there yet. (I've actually broken 5000 words on this one, which is unusual for me, but it needs at least one more edit. And a title. I hate titles!)

So -- apologies to people like huldrejenta who worked fast this weekend to actually make the original Sept 1 deadline (and her piece is very sweet, if anyone is looking for some new R/T to read), but I think I'll hold off a few more days before posting the masterlist. At least two of us are still going... Let's say, maybe Friday for the masterlist? I'm hoping I can get my fic posted in the next day or two, but it's always good to leave a margin, lol.

Anyone else who would like to add something to the meme, just link it over there in the comments thread and I'll be happy to include it in the masterlist. No drabble is too short! (Or too long, heh.)

Titles are the worst, aren't they? Titles and summaries are always hard. (Except when I cheat and borrow the title from a song;))

Song lyrics are a great source for titles! But I feel like if I were going to do that for one chapter from Kaleidoscope, I should probably do it for all of them.

Still looking for a decent title. If it ends up with a one-word title, you'll know I gave up, heh.

I'd logged in to post part I of mine this morning as I'm still a fair way from the end, and having finally started to get a tiny bit pleased, I'd love an extra day or two to get the last part right without rushing like mad today. Not that I'm making excuses - well I am, obviously - but this is being written in between the usual PHC, with car troubles, neighbour sewage/drain troubles (don't go there; I certainly didn't want to!) and much else. At least it should be a good break next week, lol.

Very excited about your fic! Titles are an absolute pain, unless I have one in mind from the beginning. Which is annoyingly rare.

Oh, no, I very much didn't mean for this "drabble" (ha) meme to end up as a source of stress!

I spent pretty much all of my Monday off frantically working on mine, to the detriment of other things I should have been doing that day (like helping my brother plan something special for our parents' 45th wedding anniversary?) -- and still didn't finish it. Not very pleased with myself for that maneuver, heh.

Ah, well do I know that feeling, and all the frustration that precedes it -- but glad yours is starting to shape itself up and be willing to please you. And I am very happy to know there's a new fic coming from you.

Makes you sound like something out of a country-house murder-mystery plot, though, doesn't it? Aren't there always drains somewhere? (There's a bug-butter-related incident in A Civil Campaign where Miles has to sort out the drains of Vorkosigan House, and it's always made me suspect LMB of poking fun at literary country-house drain crises...)

Oh, no, I very much didn't mean for this "drabble" (ha) meme to end up as a source of stress!

Don't worry, it's just me, not you! (This sounds like the start of a Dear John letter.;)) Why I ever think the week before a holiday ever goes according to plan is beyond me! And then when the blasted story wouldn't behave as well... Cue much gilpin flapping. Anyway, I will be posting something, come what may, but just to warn you it will be on the Friday as I'm not around much tomorrow.

And, now that it is behaving, I am enjoying myself immensely. Mostly. ;)

I sympathise with the guilt problem. Also, the tug of war between things you know you should be doing, and trying to fit some precious writing time in. It's hard.
