This is a drabble that was originally posted at rt_challenge, but which I am reposting here...because wildmagelet has made an adorable illustration for it!

Inscrutability is relative.

Open Book
They were curled up on the squashy couch in Tonks's flat, sipping spiced tea. Remus kept his eyes closed, the better to feel the rhythm of her breathing and the warm weight of her head on his shoulder—until she suddenly twisted around to face him.

Her dark eyes fixed on his with an intensity that made his pulse skitter. Tonks had learned to read him, just as Sirius and the others had learned in another lifetime—he could no longer hide from her. If there was something she wanted to know, she would show no mercy.

He was glad.

That's an adorably perfect drawing to match the drabble - I love all the details down to Tonks' scarf and earrings. And the way they're waving the mugs around, it really looks as though she's just landed in his lap that second and they've hurriedly moved them out the way!

Aw, this is perfect. Just a wonderful level of romantic tension. I can really imagine them curled up just like this, just enjoying the closeness. The details in the drawing really add something too. Remus and his sweater vests. XD
