[Vorkosigan fic] Study Abroad

Still working away on my werewolf-politics fic for metamorfic_moon, but I did take a break to write a ficlet for the annual Ficathon at bujold_fic. There are a lot of great posts over there -- all Vorkosigan so far, but Friday is for Chalion prompts, which I know some of my f-listers have claimed!

Oh, I've just put a Bujold book on hold at the library. Beguiled, I think. Do you recommend them?

Oh, Beguiled from the Sharing Knife series, isn't it? I actually haven't read any of those yet, though I certainly plan to.

The Sharing Knife books don't seem to get as much attention in the Bujold fandom as her Chalion and (especially) Vorkosigan series do, but I've yet to read anything by Bujold that I didn't at least like. One of my RL friends said that she doesn't like the Sharing Knife books as much "because they're more of a romance story," but if you ask me that doesn't sound like a minus! ;)

On the other hand, if you'd rather start with something that has been extensively f-list tested (thanks in large part to gilpin25, you could try Curse of Chalion. It has a very Remus-like main character!
