I spent most of my New Year's long weekend (aside from a hike with friends, a dinner out, and a late episode of holiday baking) immersed in writing fic for the Christmas Cracker Advent at [livejournal.com profile] metamorfic_moon. It had been a while since I really sat down to write something longish and plotty, and it felt really good to do it...

Anyway, I came up with something for the HBP section of the Kaleidoscope series, where I got to work with my OC werewolves again. I felt sort of odd posting an angst/drama piece set in March for a holiday event, but this was the plotbunny my prompt brought! And it was a fic goal for 2009 to write another installment involving the pack, so I'm glad I had a chance to try.
  • What It Takes (4750 words | PG-13/profanity, reference to offstage violence)
Remus has been living with Greyback’s pack for months without making any tangible progress at all. Loving someone he can never have certainly does not improve matters. But one day, Greyback goes a little too far, and some things, at least, begin to change.
Then, just for fun, I wrote a fluffy drabble. And nothing says fluff like post-war denial!fic AU, heh. Not that you'd know that's what is coming from the craftily misleading summary. ;) As always, there's great stuff at [livejournal.com profile] metamorfic_moon -- I'm still reading, but I'm enjoying it all very much.

Yes, I felt sort of strange writing bonfire night in January! Still, I guess it will avoid people being overloaded with Christmas fics!

It's great to have you back - did you have a good time travelling? And you may have missed it, but I have a Chalion poll in my last entry that you might want to do. :)

I think you're right! :)

did you have a good time travelling?

I did, very much, thanks -- and there will be more picspams to come as I get myself organized (sigh). I'm still getting Christmas packages ready to send to some of my cousins...

Oh, excellent! You're right, I haven't yet had a chance to sit down and read through "back issues" of my f-list. I will look for that.

I was searching for something on my own journal last night and found my first posts about CoC. It was only one year ago last week that I read that for the first time. It feels like it's been part of my reading and fanfic life for much longer than that!

How was the return to work or shouldn't I ask? Did that relief teacher do a good job in your absence? ;)

Looking forward to reading your fics (am inching nearer), and it's rather nice to have some non-Christmas ones in the mix. My wedding drabble was in July, I suppose, but I didn't have words to spare to mention the sun beating down and Molly having a barbecue ready at the Burrow afterwards, lol. And yay for another in the Kaleidoscope series, especially one set at that particular time. I've been looking forward to you revisiting the werewolves, so to speak!

Mr Gilpin wants to know when you're travelling again as he misses the caramels. ;)

Edited because clearly 2010 isn't going to be the year I learnt to type, either!

I'm ...not sure yet, lol. Yesterday was supposed to be a work day, and I was in here doing some stuff. But there was only one other person in my whole building all day, and it was impossible not to keep popping over to Meta and thinking, "Well, this one's only 1400 words, so how bad could it be if I took a little tea break?"

Did that relief teacher do a good job in your absence? ;)

He totally did, and one of these days I'll be posting a bit about the report he left for me. ;)

Oh, good! :) I'll have to see if by chance they're stocked at the Japanese grocery over by [livejournal.com profile] jadeddiva's way, next time I get myself out there.

So wonderful to see that as soon as you get back to fanfic you choose to write about your werewolves. I’m bookmarking. Once again, welcome back!

Thank you!

I probably shouldn't say this, given my writing speed, but the next chapter of "Order" is under construction, too...

And once I've finished reading and commenting at Meta, I'm looking forward to getting caught up with "Revolt" as well.

Well, thank you for saying all that! In turn, I keep saying that the final scenes of Revolt are under construction.
