Yep, you read that right. Even though I have had about zero time to read and review fics for the last month (not to mention finishing comments for a certain discussion post that is now two weeks old), last night, instead of getting caught up, I sat down and wrote fic myself. My excuse was: I felt like my head was going to explode if I didn't write something soon. Heh. But I do have about three of y'all's new(ish) fics in open browser windows, waiting for a quiet moment, and I have NOT forgotten them.
And yep, you read that right: it's a Chalion/HP crossover. I've never written any crossover fics before, but this one was sparked by a mind-bending prompt from last summer's ficathon at
bujold_fic: 'Cazaril, Severus Snape, and endure' -- which would not leave me alone until I figured out a way to make it work. The story is post-DH, with all that implies about Snape's state of existence, and someone else who puts in an appearance is Ariana Dumbledore. This is not part of my "official" ficverse for either fandom, but I had to give crossover a try...

- The Thirst for Glorious Souls (1100 words | PG)
Cazaril tries to convince a surly stranger that enough endurance is enough.
Cazaril!
The summons jerked him from a sound sleep.

Date: 2009-10-15 09:47 pm (UTC)Fics are like wine, right? Excellent when well-aged?
Are you feeling better?
I should say no, because that would be an excuse for how many times LJ has distracted me today. ;) But in truth I am (thank you!). I only had a fever on Monday, so at least it wasn't H1N1 that I exposed my parents to before sending them off to visit the triplets. (*huge sigh of relief*) I'm still sneezing like mad, but that doesn't (in theory) prevent me from working on my research proposal.
ETA: Clicked "post" too soon. Also meant to say: I'm sorry it's been a bit of a day for you, and I hope tomorrow will be better!

Date: 2009-10-15 10:03 pm (UTC)Just remember you said that, if a certain once-promised drabble ever sees the light of day. The opening line of the A/N may well be: "So, 2002 was an excellent, full-bodied year for this fic..." ;)
Am glad the sneezing wasn't anything worse, but I think it's an entirely reasonable excuse for a bit of distraction. (Procrastinators love company to ease the guilt.;))
And thank you. I took my mother to the dentist, which is where she had the nightmare panicking day before, and I really can't believe a six month check-up has come round so fast. But all was eventually well, though the CCTV probably has some interesting shots of me appearing to forcibly drag an elderly lady out the car. Still that's it for another six months, so it's yay all round and tomorrow will be a lot better.:D

Ohhhh. For someone who doesn't like to go out, that has got to be a complete nightmare. I'm glad all was well in the end.
