[Drabble] Morning Snow

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it! I hope everyone is having a warm and peaceful holiday -- or a busy frenetic one, if that's your preference...

I'm not making a whole lot of progress on my Meta fic, but last night was a full moon, so I decided to take a stab at an AU drabble set in the present. (The web informs me that temperatures are too high in the UK today for snow, but I've taken a pinch of artistic license.)

Morning Snow (100 words | G | RL/NT | AU, 2007)

Remus felt a gentle kiss brush his forehead before Dora tucked the duvet around him and tiptoed out of the room. Sleep washed over him in a warm soft wave, easing the ache of strained muscles and twisted bones—until one eye opened again at the sound of nine-year-old feet pounding down the stairs. He found the bedroom filled with the diffuse white light of a snowy morning.

"Mum! Gran! Look! It's snowing! On Christmas Eve!"

"Hush, Teddy," came Andromeda’s voice automatically. "You'll wake your father."

Remus smiled and burrowed deeper into the soft pillows. He would never mind that.

Thank you so much! I'm, um, definitely working on an outline for my post-war werewolf activism fic. It's going to be one of my fic goals for the new year...something plotty and with OCs, neither of which I've tried before. So that's my excuse for writing more AU. ;)

This is canon, isn't it? Especially as we are actually supposed to be having snow in GB today. It's certainly how it should be so I think I'd be very happy if you write more AU as well, please. :)

When no one's watching me, I definitely start pretending this is canon. ;) And a (I hope) plotty, longish AU fic is something I definitely want to try in 2008.

Happy New Year to you too! I survived the conference paper, thanks, but Thursday through Sunday were pretty well nonstop at the conference, and now I'm back just in time to have a crazy week at work, so, eep. I only hope I have time to read everything at Meta before the voting deadline!

Aw! How sweet. I love this one. It's very cute. Remus is so sweet with Teddy when he's not worrying himself silly over things that aren't going to happen.

It's almost Christmas, yet again and I can hardly wait!

Thanks very much! I like to think that after the war (in AU, of course), Remus would eventually learn to stop panicking and be the excellent father he is cut out to be. :)
