That's an excellent point. Dag has seen more of the world, but Fawn has people-skills and capabilities that Dag doesn't, and he certainly seems to deal with her as an equal, if one sometimes lacking in information.
With these books, there are some long lulls and while I was never bored it does make the narrative seem less tight.
