I enjoyed this very much indeed. It's nice to get into the head of Dy Ferrej for once, given that we don't see that much in canon, and I especially enjoyed him talking to the dog! (I suppose it's probably a bit lonley for him at Valenda, with so many people in Cardegoss for the coronation.)
I thought all the characterisations were spot on, and really enjoyed the contrast between Caz's imaginings and reality. So typically him!
I'm feeling all inspired now! You've reminded me how much I want to write some Chalion. :)
