Update in fic, but *not* in life...

I'd been planning for a week to make a gleeful post tonight about how I'd finished off a work project (that accursed book chapter) that had been plaguing me all winter, and managed to post a fic at [livejournal.com profile] fandomfusion.

...Unfortunately, the book chapter is NOT DONE. *sigh* I can't imagine in the grand scheme of things it will matter all that much to the editor if he gets the chapter on June 2 instead of June 1, but I'm still feeling all bogged down and wishing it were over. One more day. Tomorrow I'm sending it in, no matter what.

At least the fic is done! :/ (And lest this make you question my priorities, heh, it was mostly finished a good three weeks ago, and just needed some final tweaking over the weekend when I was too tired to be working on the book chapter.) I'd been wanting to write another DH fic set at Hogwarts after having so much fun with The Sorting in 2007(!), so I was glad the [livejournal.com profile] fandomfusion prompts sent me in that direction.

Dumbledore set the wheels in motion, but he left no map. All they can do is hold on tight and hope that someone knows where they are headed.

Congratulations to my fellow deadline-stalkers, especially [livejournal.com profile] duck_or_rabbit, [livejournal.com profile] gilpin25, and [livejournal.com profile] hrymfaxe -- we made it! And you'd better believe that I will be celebrating with a big ol' dose of fic-reading and graphic-novel-viewing as soon as that book chapter goes out. Tomorrow. Yes. (And you're first, [livejournal.com profile] zia_montrose. ;) )

OMG, it's not your priorities I'm worried about--it's mine! I left my paying design project until the last minute due to playing too hard over the weekend and reading wonderful fics and now I'm getting clocked over the head with it. (For safety's sake, I do not recommend spec'ing out ventilation in a hurry ; ) Client will live however, and he'll even get a good deal, since the work is getting finished in, like, half the usual time.

I look forward to hearing that you've punched that thing off to... Australia, was it?

How exciting to see all those fics get posted at the buzzer, eh?

Heh. As long as everyone can still breathe, right? ;) I'm glad you got to play hard on the weekend, though. That's what they're supposed to be for (as I keep reminding myself...).

The Netherlands, actually. So it got there well after close-of-business their time last night, but at least it had the June 2 date stamp on the e-mail. ;)

Definitely! And they all look very different and very creative. I'm happy to just write on my own, too, but I love the feeling of community from participating in events like this.
